Vito Acconci has created influential and provocative works of art stemming from his early years as a writer and poet. His creativity has led him to develop pieces of conceptual art, performance art, film, multimedia installations and architectural sculpture. Since the late 1960’s, Acconci’s groundbreaking work concerns action and space, and investigates relationships that enforce an intensive dialogue between the artist and viewer, the body and the self, public and private, subject and object, absence and presence, which makes us reconsider the language of environments.
