Robert Therrien creates work that occupies a position between abstraction and realism. While his early work focused on the beauty of forms and the materials from which they were made, his more recent work is inspired by objects in the everyday world. In No Title, 1994 Therrien takes a common drawing pad, and adds a simple oval shape to the first page making us think about the meanings associated with this form, as well as the pad of paper on which it is printed.
