Jason Middlebrook was born in 1957 in Jackson, Michigan. He received his BFA from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1990. He then went on to receive his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1994. From 1994-1995 he participated in the year long Whitney Independent Program in New York City.
Middlebrook is a mixed-media artist who works in sculpture, installation, and site-specific projects. His work often deals with the interaction of nature and human and the exact moment at which they collide. He has been feature in solo and group exhibitions around the world and currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
