Joel Meyerowitz was born in New York in 1938. He began his photography career in 1962 and since then has been featured in over 350 exhibitions in museums and galleries around the world. He is a self-proclaimed “street photographer” who walks the streets capturing life. Unlike street photographers at the beginning of the 20th century, he works in color photography. Meyerowitz himself was instrumental in changing the attitudes toward the use of color photography.

Meyerowitz is a two time Guggenheim fellow whose works can be viewed at the Museum of Modern Art (New York) and the Museum of Fine Art (Boston), among others. Meyerowitz lives and works in New York City.
