Rob Pruitt (b. 1964, Washington, D.C.) is an American post-conceptual artist known for his works that display Pop Art sensibilities while making ironic and witty social, cultural, and artistic commentary. He studied at Corcoran College of Art and Design and Parsons School of Design.

“I’ve really enjoyed letting the world know that not everything is so mystified or so regulated to expertise—that you can make something really beautiful with a little ingenuity and some supplies from Michael’s.” Pruitt’s works hold a universal quality in their materials and execution, yet they still maintain a unique voice unencumbered by judgment or vapidity. Rather than reject the overlap between the art and commercial worlds, Pruitt actively embraces it and uses to his strength, acknowledging his own very human, very American place in the consumer world. His projects sprawl across a variety of mediums, ranging from glittery paintings of pandas, to a book of DIY arts and crafts ideas, to transforming the gallery space into a flea market where visitors could socialize with artist and buy both artworks and miscellaneous goods.

Pruitt has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Aspen Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Detroit, LAND (Los Angeles), and Dallas Contemporary. In 2011, Public Art Fund commissioned Pruitt’s “Andy Monument” to  Andy Warhol in New York’s Union Square. He lives and works in New York.

Rob has completed three projects with RxART at CHOC Children’s in Orange, CA,  St. Mary’s Hospital for Children in Bayside, New York and at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
