Rob Pruitt was born in Washington, D.C. in 1964. His work is rooted in a pop sensibility and a play critique of art world structures. From his glittering paintings of panda bears and sculptural formations of blue jeans to his operative flea markets, Pruitt’s work is always characterized by an incisive humor and exuberant visual flair.
Pruitt has participated in many group exhibitions internationally including shows at P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center (New York), Museum of Contemporary Art (Washington, D.C.), Whitechapel Art Gallery (London), Irish Museum of Modern Art (Dublin, Ireland), Shanghai Art Museum, Andy Warhol Museum (Pittsburgh), and the Tate Modern (London), among others. Pruitt lives and works in New York City.
