Yesterday, it was announced that RxArt’s friend and 2010 Gala Co-Host, James Franco, will not only host this year’s Oscars but will be amongst the distinguished nominees for Best Actor.  He is nominated for for his amazing lead role in “127 Hours.” The film was also recognized with nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Adapted Screenplay and Original Score.  We wish him the very best for this year’s nomination. We are sure it won’t be his last.

  • KAWS Lights Up The Standard Hotel

RxArt friend and supporter Brian Donnelly, aka KAWS, had a great 2010.  Last year we saw everything from his successful solo exhibition at the The Aldrich Museum, his newest coveted vinyl toy releases to a signature clothing line, Original Fake.  Not to mention that KAWS released a book about his outstanding work detailing his early works, commercial products, and insight into his world.

The start of 2011 for KAWS picks up right where 2010 left off with another great collaborative effort with The Standard Hotel.

KAWS lights up The Standard Hotel by literally leaving his mark on the light bulbs!  It is a collection of 3 light bulbs - Red, Purple, and Green filaments bearing the KAWS’ signature XX.

  • PURYPARISGRAPHY

RxArt’s good friend and a man of many talents (DJing included) Simon de Pury has collaborated with Casio to design a couple of new colorways in the brand’s popular G-Shock series. The watch will commemorate Simon de Pury’s forthcoming exhibition “PURYPARISGRAPHY,” which will be on display from January 3 to 29 at colette. The watch is limited to just 20 pieces and features an engraved back, as well as a package created from his photographs. The accessory will be available from colette on January 19.

Congrats to Simon on his upcoming exhibit!

  • Thank You to Our Supporters

2011 was an incredible year for RxArt.  Thanks to all of our supporters, RxArt expanded in multiple capacities.  In April, we completed the installation of Jason Middlebrook pieces at San Francisco General Hospital's Psychiatric Emergency Unit.  We launched Between the Lines, Volume 3, our most extensive coloring book to date, at our  CHANEL Beaute-sponsored gala in September.  Our new website launched this fall, and we added another full-time employee to our small (but growing!) team.  We're thrilled that we'll be able to complete several new installations within the first two months of the new year: a beautiful mural by Trenton Doyle Hancock will be installed in Houston's Memorial Hermann Hospital; 14 James Welling photographs will be installed in Atlanta; and, thanks to the generosity of Agnes Gund, a series of prints from the Lincoln Center Vera List Art Project will be installed in New York's Radiology Department of Metropolitan Hospital.

We could not be more excited about the year ahead.  With our high-energy team and dedicated supporters, we are poised for a year of unprecedented growth.  Partnerships are in the works with major national brands, which will provide RxArt with increased exposure across the country.  We're working to make RxArt a truly national organization, changing patient and staff experiences in hospitals around the country!

We hope you'll stay tuned throughout the coming year and help us along our incredible journey.

  • RxArt + Glassybaby

    RxArt + glassybaby

Last week, glassbaby hosted a beautiful candle lit evening (pun intended) with RxArt for the release of the new glassybaby RxArt candle gift set designed by Cythnia Rowley.

RxArt Board Member, Cynthia Rowley chose a selection of raspberry sorbet, peter pan and eggplant as the RxArt glassbaby gift set. 10% from the sale of each gift set will be donated to RxArt.

glassybaby was founded by Lee Rhodes.  She was fighting cancer when she first dropped a tea light in a colorful, hand-made votive. She found great healing and hope in the light of a lit glassybaby.

We want to thank glassybaby and Cynthia Rowley for their continued support of RxArt!

  • A Wonderland of Merry

    “A Wonderland of Merry”

Our friend Jeff Koons continues his good-will and holiday spirit.  Last night, Kiehl’s held a special event at their NYC flagship store celebrating our friend Jeff Koons’ latest collaboration with Kiehl’s.  A Kiehl’s limited-edition Creme de Corps Holiday Collection with labels featuring Jeff Koons artwork “Tulips.”  The label features Koons’ “Large Vase of Flowers,” which was inspired by the Queen’s Bedchamber at Versailles.
