• Culture, Rolling Into Towns on Big Rigs

Culture, Rolling Into Towns on Big Rigs

Check out this article in the NY Times today; we love this idea of bringing art to the people.  The program director said, ” The conversation we’re hoping to start is not about art but through art.”  Now that’s what we call a heavy truckload!

  • Thank you, Baking for Good

    bakingforgood:

You’ll love learning about RxArt, an organization that uses contemporary art to brighten sterile hospital environments, and Climb for Kujali, a team of international climbers who together will tackle Mt. Kilimanjaro and raise $120,000 to complete the building of the first free, private secondary boarding school for orphaned teens in Mkuranga, Tanzania. Check them out and show your support when you order treats this week!

Thank you, Baking for Good, not only for the fabulous RxArt web feature but also for supplying this office with the most delectable treats we’ve ever consumed! (We just ordered a batch of the peanut butter chocolate chip cookies, and let’s just say that we clamored for every last crumb.)

  • RxArt on The Huffington Post!

    RxArt on The Huffington Post!

In Agnes Gund’s (President Emerita of MoMA) article “Taking the Arts Seriously,” she writes, “Cultural programs are increasing in number and quality as hospitals find that the arts ‘comfort, console and sustain’ patients and improve in-hospital results. Major artists are being solicited to do work specifically for hospitals; many of them are donating it through programs like New York-based RxArt. Much of this work is aimed at children in treatment.”

Click here to read Gund’s insightful, pertinent, and thought-provoking article. We love hearing about the power of art beyond museum walls. Three cheers!

  • Jealous Curator

The Jealous Curator blog recently praised both Mary Temple and RxArt:

The top three images are from a project called Extended Afternoon, Aldrich Museum, and the fourth piece is actually how I found her. It’s her contribution to an amazing non-profit organization called RxArt based in New York.

  • RxArt in Kempt

UrbanDaddy’s blog, Kempt, not only gave RxArt a coloring book shout out, but they gave us a brilliant idea to boot! We’re honored, humbled and inspired:

All that’s missing is a place to see the works after they’ve gotten a little crayon on them, but it’s nothing a tumblr couldn’t solve.
