RxArt 12th Annual PARTY!
15 November 2012 by
At RxArt had our 12th Anniversary PARTY this Monday and Milk Studio. The event honored artist Dan Colen for his ongoing work with RxArt and his upcoming permanent installation at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn. Colen described the pieces he plans to install in the children’s ward, “It’s these drawings I’m doing with M&Ms, and these sculptures I’m making out of rocks that I paint to look like M&Ms, so I just thought the kids could make some fun relationship to it."
It was an incredible evening, which included fantastic art by Terry Richardson, Aurel Schmidt, Jose Parla and many others, a live auction and a surprise performance by Kilo Kush. Thank you to the friends, artists, and guests who came! See photos below:

Man of the hour, Dan Colen!

Staff Pick: KAWS: DOWN TIME at the High Museum of Art, Atlanta
26 March 2012 by

I was happy to be in Atlanta recently, in time to see Brian Donnelly's (better know as KAWS) solo show at the High Museum of Art (on view until May 20th).
Entering the museum plaza, I was greeted by the familiar sight of KAWS' "Passing Through" Companion, which stood in front of The Standard New York last summer. The large sculpture could only begin to prepare me for a museum bursting with KAWS' paintings, sculptures and drawings. Brian is a wonderful friend of RxArt and I have long been a fan of his sophisticated but playful aesthetic.
A 22-foot high site-specific mural greets visitors at the entrance to the Weiland pavilion. If you cross the Renzo Piano bridge leading to the atrium of the original Richard Meier building, you see a fabulous triptych installed near the top of the space. I circled up the ramp towards the top of the atrium to get closer to the huge fluorescent painting. An upper gallery adjacent to the atrium was filled entirely with tondo paintings and another with fabulous drawings, some of which I can't get out of my head - not that that is a problem!
It was so much fun to see KAWS' work in a major museum show. I am thrilled that we will have the opportunity to work with Brian on a site-specific hospital installation in the near future. Watch our website for more information as the project develops.

KAWS Lights Up The Standard Hotel
20 January 2011 by

RxArt friend and supporter Brian Donnelly, aka KAWS, had a great 2010. Last year we saw everything from his successful solo exhibition at the The Aldrich Museum, his newest coveted vinyl toy releases to a signature clothing line, Original Fake. Not to mention that KAWS released a book about his outstanding work detailing his early works, commercial products, and insight into his world.
The start of 2011 for KAWS picks up right where 2010 left off with another great collaborative effort with The Standard Hotel.
KAWS lights up The Standard Hotel by literally leaving his mark on the light bulbs! It is a collection of 3 light bulbs - Red, Purple, and Green filaments bearing the KAWS’ signature XX.

A.K.A Kaws
29 October 2010 by

Brian Donnelly, better known by his loyal fanbase as KAWS, has been a longtime RxArt friend and supporter (his Between the Lines coloring book page is almost always the one that kids and adults fight over for Crayola rights).
Last night, we had the extreme pleasure of stopping by his new studio to see firsthand where the magic happens and meet his talented team (which includes an adorable beagle). Being the generous guy that he is, KAWS donated two fabulous pieces (one of which is pictured above) to our benefit auction, and we couldn’t be more excited to prominently feature them on the 15th. Until then, we’re more than happy to prominently feature them as our new favorite office decor.

KAWS x Disney
03 September 2010 by
For all of you KAWS fans, be on the look out for his new exciting collaborative piece with Disney. KAWS has left his recognizable mark on Pinocchio and his little buddy Jiminy Cricket. This piece was first displayed at his gallery showing at the Aldrich, which created quite a stir to say the least. News quickly hit the internet, which fueled excitement and anticipation for a public release. As with all KAWS figures, they’re in extremely limited supply. They have already released overseas in Asia with a US release to closely follow, so head to your favorite KAWS retailer and find your spot in the queue.
Along with other great artists that contributed original line drawings, KAWS also can be found in our limited edition Between the Lines, Vol. 2. So if you’re not able to get your hands on a limited edition figurine, this is your chance to own some of his work and create your very own artist collaboration!
