RxArt featured a new work by Cuban-American artist José Parlá as well as limited edition prints by Harold Ancart, Walead Beshty, Sam Falls, KAWS and Jonas Wood.

Entitled Crossing Out Neglect with Care, 2016, Parlá’s 6 x 12 ft diptych is composed of acrylic, ink, enamel and plaster on canvas. The work was created specifically for Frieze New York in anticipation of RxArt’s upcoming collaboration with Parlá on a project that will brighten and transform an inner city residence for children and adolescents living with infectious diseases. Proceeds from the sale will join lead support from Kiehl’s Since 1851 in making the project possible.

Parlá said of creating Crossing Out Neglect with Care, “When making this work, I kept thinking of the energy it takes to care for people, a home, your work, a city, a country, and the level of commitment it takes to strike out neglect, corruption, abuse, and disease. It starts with love and love sees the mission through.”

Diane Brown, RxArt Founder and President said: “We are thrilled to be able to present this incredible work by RxArt friend and collaborator José Parlá, whom we are proud to be working with on a transformative project for a New York City healthcare center. We are grateful to Frieze for inviting us as one of three nonprofit organizations alongside the Queens Museum and White Columns to share our program and mission with such a dynamic international audience.”

Proceeds from the artwork sales support RxArt’s projects with exceptional contemporary artists in pediatric hospitals throughout the country.
